Got It!!!!!!!

I was starting to not believe you guys who were saying the Ex could tow straight and true at the 10 k weight......Well I lowered the tongue of my toy hauler after struggling to eliminate the swaying and it worked! Looks like I can keep the Ex to tow my hauler! I am somewhere in Kansas headed for Az. I have been able to go 75 mph with my setup now!! Finally@!$;!!!!!

What I did is lower the front end of the hauler by lowering the ball at the hitch. I lowered it 1 1/2 inch an pointed the nose of the hauler at a slight downward angle. Then I put my air bags at 43 psi and now it tows real nice!! I originally had it set up perfectly level and it was all over the road!

Thanks for updating us. I was just about to put the for sale sign in the window. I have a 9200lbs TT. and was getting worried that it wouldnt do the job for me. I have done the usual air bags and rear sway bar, which by the way was the best mod ive done to date with my ex. Doing a short 200 miler in may and im anxious to see how she does.

Yep I had the same problem! first I installed the Hellwig. major difference! just the X by itself without the hellwig it was almost dangerous to drive. it would wander in the lane. and towing! it was an accident waiting to happen. it got to the point that I was thinking about trading it in too.

I also lowered the front of my TT 2" it appeared level before but now it`s just a hair nose down. with the hellwig and adj. hitch height it now tows like a dream. I can actually relax and drive with one hand! glad you got it figured out.

Awesome!

I'm so glad it worked out for you, it would have been a crying shame for you to dump that nice Ex you have.

The Hellwig, steering box adjustment, and hitch tweaking did it for my 7klb TT. Tows like a dream now!

I am waiting for the next major trip for my rig.. It'll be 300 miles one way with mostly two lane mountain roads over white Pass to Pasco,Wa and then 300 miles back with freeway all the way and two major pulls and down hills, between Yakima and Ellensburg and then Snoqualomie Pass. I've now got everything for pulling set up with the airbags, new shocks and an Equalizer hitch which worked well for the last trip and since we got back, I've added the Hellwig and so I should be rock solid..Hopefully,I'll be adding a 4" exhaust by then too....

Bigdog55,

One "tip" that I used while pulling mountain passes last summer was I utilized the "boost" feature on the prodigy. Meaning on the down side I used engine braking (on my V10) BUT I also added 1 more level of boost over what I "normally" run. This way a small tap on the TV brakes applies MORE TT braking initially...just enough to TUG the TT under mountain downside braking...

Just something I used successfully...and thought I'd pass along.

Good luck!
joe.
