I took last Friday off from work to clean up the Airflow. This is what it looked like after a full day of cleaning.
I took it to my friend's body shop and used their cleaning chemicals to clean her up. I managed to find a dead mouse hidden behind the back seat and a rotted through floorboard in the front passenger area. Had one of the techs screw in a sheetmetal patch into the wooden floor. I thoroughly vacuumed the entire interior, cleaned the glass, scrubbed all stainless and chrome parts with fine steel wool to get rid of the rust, washed and waxed the car, and cleaned the white walls. I also attached the front license plate. What a difference the cleaning made! Now I'm shopping for someone who can re-upholster it at a reasonable price. My wife says that I should get a license plate that says "Godfthr" (Godfather) since this car reminds her of the movie.
On Saturday, I spent the entire day cleaning out our side yard. The gravel area was full with parts.
I hung up what ever I could and had space for.
The rest was carefully piled on or in.
I'm still slowly going through all of my parts. I need to get rid of most of them. I'll be giving away some smaller parts for free and will sell others either here in the classifieds or on eBay. Sorry, but the fenders are not for sale.
I still have to put the stock engine into my 52 Panel. Maybe in a week or two this will become a reality.
Lastly, I went cruising in the Airflow on Sunday. I took my other best friend along for the ride.
If Bee's Upholstery is still around (off Alamaden Expwy and Blossom Hill), they used to be very good and did some work for my family. Cordwale, as I recall ... in an old *ahem* Ca**y.

That's a beautiful old Airflow.
There's nothing but strip malls on the corners now.
You had a very productive weekend Ilya. The Airflow looks great. I seem to remember a few more pieces in the side yard when I was there a couple of months ago, Looks real good.
I thought the in laws had some storage for you to fill up. LOL

Those pieces are now either hanging on the fence or piled up. Our storage is full. I have my trailer with a truck on top stored at the in-law's and I have two trucks stored in the back yard of my friend's body shop.
Sounds like you've got too many trucks and parts (as if that were possible!). I'd be happy to take some off your hands! At no cost to you of course!
heheheh
That airflow cleaned up REALLY nice. Can't say for sure from the pics, but it looks like the paint may be restorable with a little TLC from the buffing department. Even if it can't be restored, it looks great for its age! Oh, and I like the license plate idea too.

I thought about buffing it, but the car was repainted black during its lifetime. The original color, brown, can be seen through the black paint in some areas and the black paint is starting to flake off in some spots.
I applied an Armor All type liquid on the vehicle and wiped it down with a clean cloth. It seemed to do the trick. That's what I'll be using from now on. I even used it on my Panel truck and it looks great.
What was it that you used? For the past few years I've worked for a high end auto broker, and used a lot of different stuff. I'd be curious to know what it was.
