how much is a tailgate worth?

just went out and measured my 'gate and she's the 21 by 54 version and overall it and the bed are in great shape other than the metal floor the farmer i got it from welded in it . now i don't know what to do as you guy's say it's hard to find but i shortened my truck to a shrt bed .

Oh no its more RED! 
I know at the supernats you could stand on the hill and look out across 1500 (or however many) trucks and it was a sea of red (or redish). A few black, a few blue, a few other colors, but way too many red based.
I am seriously thinking something other than red even though the "R" paint code says mine was red in 56.
