OK....I've been dealing with this for a few months...not so much a problem then an annoyance....I have no dash lights....not in the printed circuit...not on the heater controls and my radio won't dim....so...
I changed the light switch....nothing....also changed that plug going to the light switch....nothing....
all fuses are good....everywhre...
What else could it be?
Yukonsly......
PS won't be a problem in a few days....already staying bright outside till 10pm....soon....sunny at 1:30AM....goto love being north of 60!
Somewhere you are not completing the circuit (broken wire, bad connection in a plug, etc.) Basicly you will have to start tracing wires. make sure that you have power coming out of the light/dimmer switch going to the dash circuit. Then unplug the connector on the back of the instrument cluster and make sure that you have power (on the correct wire) goining into the instrument cluster. If no power, trace the wire until you find the break.
Keep us posted.

Yukon, Here's the schematic. I didn't find any other schematics that pertain to your problem so it has to be in these wires & connections. If you need to know where the connectors or ground wires are located let me know.
The ground locations are under the kick panels on both sides of the truck. G201 is your likely culprit IMO, it's under the LH kick panel. The reasoning is, that your radio light is still working. The ground for that one is G200, located under the RH side kick panel.
The aftermarket radio light is on....just won't dim....when the lights are turned on....and it did before.....yeah....basically no lights anywhere on the dash.
After market radio, hhmm, Pull the radio and look for a loose wire there too. Hopefully, the installer used an adapter to splice into the existing wire harness and you won't find a rats nest of wires in there.
BTW: S218 is a splice located behind the radio in the Main harness. It could be your culprit too.
hahah....the installer is me...and yes....aftermarket plug connected right into the original Ford harness....I used to install radios for fun/sideline...always been meticulous about my installs...
We can probably rule out the connector behind the radio , it was just a thought anyway.
The ground under the LH kick panel is the most likely place to start. IIRC it's near the PCM, right where th "new Chip" is located. I think it's just a screw into the sheet metal with a couple black (-) ground wires going to it.
As you can see, There are 2 fuses in this circuit fuse #4 (15 Amp) feeds the headlight switch and fuse #10 (4 Amp) feeds circuit #19, the lighting you are having trouble with. All the power (+) wires are Light blue w/Red tracer. Easy for me to say huh? Now finding the wires will be the fun part.
OK...so...you guys can have a laugh on me now....I fixed the dimmer issue when I was installing my gauges....you guys...will never guess what the problem was.......
NO fuse #10.....it was once to the side in anoter spot HAHAHAH...can you believe that? HAHAHAHAH....talk about dumb......Well only cost me 50$ for a headlight switch and plug...OOPS....could of been worse...could of taken everything appart and still find nothing.
Oh Well....At least it's fixed....no thanks to my diagnostic abilities HAHAHAHA
