460 Oil Pan
I have seen several stock types. Has anyone found a particular year that works best? Also, what capacities are available?
Oil pump pick-up as well.
All Ford truck 300 6's and all the V8's from the 1960's and later (exc. diesels) have a 6 quart oil capacity. The cars have 5.

Incidentally, from my research, the difference between the E7TZ pan and the E9TZ pan was that the later pan had a press in dipstick tube whereas the E7 pan had a screw in dipstick tube. I found pictures of both (which are identical except for the dipstick tube variance), and it looks exactly the same as the 70's 4X4 pan.

The oil pan you listed is NOT compatible with the pickup tube..at all. The oil pan is for a 1980/89 F250/350 & Super Duty 460, but the tube is for an ECONOLINE ONLY. The correct pickup tube/screen that matches E7TZ-6675-A is: E4TZ-6622-A
The problems with all the various magazine articles is that they are loaded with errors, and the mags always have a disclaimer somewhere, stating they
aren't responsible for the very tech articles they write and print.
The E9TZ-6675-A oil pan was never used in a F150/350, Super Duty or any Econoline. It was used ONLY in the F53 stripped chassis (no body), used by Motorhome manufacturers and for other uses.
There is NO such thing as a 1970's 460 Econoline 4X4 oil pan, because FORD never made an Econoline 4X4 ever, with any engine. There's also no such thing as a F Series 1970's 4X4 460 oil pan either. The 460 wasn't used in F Series 4X4's till the 1980's. The Econoline 460 oil pans have a reverse sump, so the pan and pickup tube/screen can be used in swapping a 460 into something else.

1983 to be exact.
Magazines are ALLOWED (not aloud) to print whatever they want because they put disclaimers in their articles like Bill mentioned.
Heck, there are even errors in Ford literature..that's one reason FTE is so great because of the Minds that hang out on FTE with factual information
Hanged is the correct term to inre to neck stretching. Speaking about bad info, the History Channel's Wild West Tech used "hung" in several of their shows, incurring not only the ire of the old west buffs, but several of the "contributors" they had on each show. Several of the contributors will not have anything more to do with the HC programs. Another gaffe was when they discussed the Henry Rifle, then showed a Model 1894...they were only off by 34 yrs.
If you need to do any further research, you are welcome to use my refs...they aren't from some magazine.

I do it with respect..... I don't mind people correcting me when I mistake and I am not afraid of admitting making a mistake when it happens
See the "I'm glad I learned the English Language" thread in the general conversation forum
