i just ordered a new 3spd column shift collar for my 68 f100... has anyone replaced one of these? i am sure its pretty straight forward and simple. but if there are any tricks or tips to keep from breaking anything i would like to know before i start. thanks, guys. have a good day. -tony
Hi Tony, welcome to 3 on the tree 101. First lesson. Chock the wheels and make sure it's in neutral.Remove the steering wheel and the turn signal switch. Next up, look into the top of the column and you will see 2 nuts, 7/16's I think. Loosen but don't spin them the whole way off.Grab them and squeeze toward the center and pull the casting off.Now drive the roll pin out of the shift lever and pull the lever out.Now you can pull the collar off.Assembly is reverse order of removal.Hope this helps.
