ya my 84 f-150 with 6 inch lift will clear 38.5's with no rub.. so i mean... i dunno if it was me.. i wouldnt go that big of a tire.. unless its straight trail rig... to many things break especially if you have a heavy foot ..
not to mention be hell on the drive train.. if not geared right... and .. if they were cold .. when you drove.. feel like your driving on cement blocks... get flat spots till there warm even then.. not much of a difference.. also theres height restrictions.. depending on where you live
yea pretty much... only mud tire ive found that didnt... was the mud king xl's.. or also were called regul trail blazers mt's.... there awesome tires.. i drove a set for almost 40,000 miles... then i got them regroved.. and drove them for another 12,000 lol
good snow tires as well..
It CAN be done...it just depends on how gutless you can stand your truck to be and how much vibration you're willing to put up with. Properly setup, it won't pull any direction; mine didn't pull, wander, or have death wobble in its final state. Didn't wear tires funny either.
yeah my main reason for doing this is that i think 44's are the biggest size i can go here in nj and still keep it street legal, i definitely live by the philosophy "go big or go home" and my dad's always had big trucks, a bronco with 40's, f250 that did 13 flat 1/4's (back in late 70's early 80's) and pretty much i have to prove to him that i can have a truck that's more powerful then anything he's had, bigger then anything he's had and i want it to be amazing offroad, plus be street driveable.... i know that this is gonna take a lot of hard work to get 44's to work, and a lot of money too... especially when tires cost like over $500 at this size... but i wanna do it....

well there is a philosophy i live by, do it right the first time! better make sure everything is up to par and ready to handle the extra weight. i love the people who think all they have to do is buy a set of 44" tires and they are ready to play. then they get out somewhere and wonder why their wheel bearings bit the dust or why they bent a stock steering linkage!
you have a LOT to think about especially before puttin this thing on the road. my suggestion is to hold off on the tires.... just for now! concentrate on heavier drive train components, beefier steering, and please give your brakes a second thought! i will give you the fact that you are starting with a pretty good platform! now build off of it!
o yea, and go ahead and apply for a couple of credit cards and up their limits as much as you can

well i mean i knew from the start i would need to beef up pretty much everything, and i was and still am willing to spend the time/money doing that, i'm 16, i'll find the time to do that kinda stuff haha, the only problem i have is that i am pretty much the worst welder you will ever see in your life! so i have my dad weld everything for me.. which means LOTS of stuff needs to revolve around his schedule... which is pretty much barely any free time... now remember that i won't be doing all this right now... it'll be probably way after summer, maybe even next spring... once my current tires are BALD, so pretty much i'm just trying to get lots of backround info at the moment, oh and my sis wants me to get her a "small" lift kit for her '92 for her bday, now would you say like 3.5 inchs front and 2 inchs rear? so that she can still have her stock size tires till she wants to spend money on new ones and of course i hate that leaning forward look... i think that a more level look always looks more aggressive, and she wants it to look mean... and by the way, this will be pretty much a road queen, maybe seeing trails and mud once every other month or so

You just finished saying
"i'll be mudding like every weekend with it, and also random days throughout the week..."
now it's a trailer queen.....?
IF you spend all that money on upgrading everything, then at least use it....
IF you can't afford to upgrade everything(like most people out there), then get some 38 or 39s that you can do somthing with when you want.

44's are just to much to drive everyday, and they would pull on the road and hum like you wouldnt believe
I think if this guy were a pansy he would buy a honda, the point is he'll be using it, yes, it won't ride like a Caddie', BUT IT'S A TRUCK, and i've come to the conclusion that a truck should ride like a truck, sound like a truck, and smell like a truck, uh, and look like a truck, case in point; look what happened to Chevy "trucks" when they started going for the whole "carlike ride" bit.
No offence intended, just felt like getting that out.
