John

Never meant to imply that it was "too tuff". I actually like to work on them as opposed to the new stuff. Probably the same as most of the people here.

Just thought I would give some more detailed information on the process of the body swap - from my experience there were a couple of issues that had not been mentioned previously.

OK, I just thought I read a lot of whining in the post, maybe I was wrong.

No, not me.

Whining is when someone writes:

"Why is it so hard to get the nuts off these bolts?" (40 years)

"I got stuff in my eyes working under the truck!" (so does everyone else - wear safety glasses or go blind)

"It took forever 3 clicks at a time to get the bolt out." (air ratchet)

"Why can't I get 20 mpg out of my 390 (360) F100?" (4000 lb brick)

ETC.

As I said I like working on my old stuff.

I used a F250 Super Cab frame shortened to 114 inch wheelbase. Took 40 inches out of the middle. Cut and flared the front section to match the rear. The rear wheel opening and the axle center line lined up perfectly and the bed is about 1/4 inch away from the back of the cab cab. As mentioned the cab is a bolt up deal. I removed the rear crossmember and fliped it around and backwards. Drilled a couple of holes and bolted it back in. I then whacked 4 inches off the rear of the frame rails. Suspenshion is as original. I used the 66 narrow axle because I already have nice wheels with the correct backspacing. 28 spline peg leg is fine for riding around. Had a local welding shop fab up the frame for me and it is stout!

I added a gallery showing the positioning of the 65 body on the 79 frame, the axle centerline in the wheel opening, the bed to cab gap and the lip that had to be removed from the frame.
