rear axel move
Spent the weekend moving the rearend on my 66 F-260. when i bought it it had no box on it as the previous owner had a flatbed on it. anyway i have three flairside boxes on trailers so i desided that i was gonna cut one up and make it fit the 250. the wheel base is shorter than the long box so i measuredmy 66 F-100 4WD and found out that all they did when they built the 260 is moved the rearend forward 8 inches and rivet it on. the frame is still a longbox frame.i was sitting there contemplating how to move the fenderwells to fit when my son mentioned , move the rearend. as it turned out he works in a machine shop and they have a frame drill (never heard of one) he wnet and got that and four hours later the job was done. need to do a little work on the emergency brake cables and a coupla other small items and now i dont have to do anything to the box. was a good weekend.
