[QUOTE=MobeyDick]I know some people CLAIM 27 MPG after adding a Chip/Programmer. I normally put them on my Ignore list because I know they can't actually figure there Fuel mileage and they are looking at the trucks Display. To Me it means they couldn't possibly have anything worth wild to say!!
Yeah, I here ya. I once had a guy come up to me to ask what kind of mpg I was getting with my 02 F250 CC SB 4X4. I told him 16 to 17 hand calculated. He said "something must be wrong with your truck, I get 25" and he was driving a crew cab dually 4x4!!!!
i also do it the old fashoin way and before the dp tuner chip i got 12 mpg saw 13 once. now with the dp it is the same 12 and i usually romp on it. i have the setting in 80 econo most of the time and do mostly city miles. keep in mind i have only filled up once with the new chip so hoping to see better on the next fill.
I'm getting 13-14mpg in the city, while slamming the gas pedal in every corner. I don´t know what the heck is the problem with my right leg?? There's only two positions: on or off??
Before tuning, the long term average was 13.3mpg and the same way: slamming the pedal, but those days nothing happened only blood pressure rose.
Now it will BURN rubber and you can see the smile on the drivers face all the time.
So with lighter leg, I could reach much better mpg, surely 15mpg in the city stop'n go traffic. Maybe 17-18 in the highway, but not in Mexico side, there it is real off-roading

I´m thinking here that there's guys who had add extra tank or bigger one but they never changed the tank size to the computer? That way you can get those over 20mpg numbers. Like having 55g tank instead of std 29g (CC) = over 50% increase in the tank size but if computer thinks it is still only 29g and you are getting over 500 miles.
F250_ :: I like the way you Check your Fuel mileage. Shows great Common Sense!!
Thanks... but it also requires a lot of patience. Sometimes have to wait for someone to move out of "my" spot at the pump. EVERY time, I have to trickle in the fuel to keep the foam from blowing all over the place throughout the last 5 gallons.
Boy... I can't wait to get the in-tank mods done to speed up the filling process!!
At least the DP Tuner is not killing my Fuel mileage. This tank with Stock Programming, 585.8 miles on 39.185 Gallons = 14.949 MPG. That's only slightly better then the DP Tuner on 80 Economy (14.696)!

I'm stroking currently with the Superchip. It is little bit rough in shifting, I mean it shifts in high rpms. It goes like rocket but feels like driving F1. And sometimes I'd just like cruising around the city.
It ****s to 4th gear only if you speed well over 40mph. And in a 35 limit it wont shift if you don't speed over 40 and it runs in somewhere 1500rpm that's little noisy specially windows open.
I'd like it shifts like 5-15-25? Just wondering if any of DP tunes acts like this in the "city" cruising? The truck has torque to tow a train so it could be nice to have this kind of cruising tune.
That tip about filling up till you can see it is crucial to checking MPG. Before it was fill up till the the pump stops, then add a 1/2 gallon or what ever and call it good. Problem as I understand it sometimes the diesel foams more or less and you cant get an accurate gallon reading ( sometimes 22 gallons other times 25..) Fill it till you see it.
By the way what tank mods can you do to get rid of the foamies?
If you want economy, get a rice burner. Its just not something your gonna get having fun in your truck. I grandpa it most of the time due to prices, and average 16-18 keeping it under 2k at all times in a city/highway mix. Not much fun but I get better mpg. Going like SpeedRacer, and I'm at 15 quick.

If you keep longterm records (a spreadsheet) you do not have to mess with critically filling up the tank each time...the data over time will average out the underfills or when you stuff extra fuel in. Data needs to be kept over more than 30 fillups (the magic large sample size for statisticians) to tell you what your truck is getting for fuel mileage with any kind of reliability.
I love my 55 gal aeromotive tank- come with a built in harpoon mod. I average out to 13.7 mpg in my truck, always fill to the top where I see it and use a calculator- never the lie-o-meter. When I first got this truck, it was telling me I was averaging 23 mpg on the NYC highways
me too, another thread stated that a DP chip would increase mileage on the 80 economy setting. Can anyone with this chip say what their increase has been?
My DP Tuner Did Not increase my Fuel Mileage!! Neither did my Hypertech. Some people use new math to figure their Fuel mileage.
