How many of you have the 5.5 box with a supercab? I see them all the time with the crewcabs but not with the supercab. Also, I was wondering if the supercab with the 5.5 foot box has the same wheel base as a regular cab with the 6.5 foot box. they look to be about the same, I just really like a short wheelbase truck.
Dont need it for hauling stuff, I just like a short wheelbase when it comes to offroad driving, i feel much more nimble. my dad drives a crewcab longbox duramax, the things like a freaking train so when I ever need to haul something that I cant fit in my 95 f150 sb, i use his, but even then, thats pretty rare.
there is just something about the proportions of the supercab 5.5 foot box that I like. Pro-Comp has a factory vehicle like that with a lift that I think looks pretty awesome. its in the august 06 OFF-ROAD magazine, the thing was built to what it is from stock in 48 hours, pretty cool truck
It is a sportier look than the longer bed, but I like the utility of the longer bed. A young man wanting a sport truck is probably why they make the short bed model. Also likely why they only make a very few of them.
Or, for people that like the utility of a truck for its many uses, but rarely use the bed. perhaps pulling trailers and such... just a thought, i still like the look
I didn't even know they built a Supercab with a 5.5 foot bed. Learn something new everyday. I guess for everyday driving it would be better in regards to maneuverability. Personally I like the 6.5 footer on my SCrew, but it does make tight parking lots a chore.
'07 supercab 6.5ft is a chore sometimes. it hasn't been too bad, but we have reserved parking where i live and only 6 good spots that are "open" and those are pretty tough to park in sometimes when somebody gets greedy or a couple of other wanna make u cuss situations. my '00 supercab wasn't that bad, but it was also beat up a little bit so i parking wasn't as tedious if i felt courteous.
I have a 04 XLT supercab with 5.5 box. I bought it to tow with, takes up less room in the garage. If you want to haul 8ft. lumber just drop the gate and make sure you secure your load. It's easier to park in tight spots. To each their own.
I have an 04 Lariat supercab with the 5.5 box. It has the tow package but I doubt I'll
ever tow with it. It fits nicely in my garage and with my Leer tonneau cover and
bedrug liner I just consider it a luxury car with a big trunk. I'm glad I was able to
buy this model and rarely see any others. I have some photos of it in my
gallery if any one is interested. I love that truck!

Yes, I have the supercab 5.5' box too, I like it too except when I tried ordering an exhaust system for it , no one makes one for this configuration so I bought the SLP system and had to do some custom work to make it fit.

I bought the Magnaflow catback system. The Ford dealer assured me they
could install it (duals out the back) but when I picked it up the exhausts
were exiting out the side behind the wheels. That's the way the shop
they sub-let it to installed it. Actually, I kind of like how it came out and
they didn't cobble it up other than adding a different hangar to it. Sounds
really nice too. Not too loud, but at least you can tell it has a V8 in it.
