This should be soo simple, but for whatever reason, I can't get my third tail light cover off to replace the brake light bulb. '95 F-150. After unscrewing the two screws, the assembly only pulls out about an inch, if that. What's the secret to getting it out further to be able to replace these bulbs?? Thanks!
Could be the wire is kinked and holding it in? My passenger taillight was that way, I had to work it back and forth and then barely had enough room to reach behind and twist the socket.....after it twisted a 1/4 turn the lens part came right off.....
Good Luck
i have found that folks like to replace the bulbs with higher wattage ones. this melts the plastic on the bottom of the assembly and gets in the way when trying to remove it. i think this what's wrong with yours, you're going to have to figure out a way to squeeze the assembly out past the melted plastic...
Ihave a '94 that gave me the same problem. Turns out, after a LOT of grief, the bubls had melted the bottom of the plastic insert and it was hanging up while I tried to pull it out! Almost made me fail a safety inspection. Just had to wiggle and play with it. Hope this helps.
F150 fiend, that is what i am talking about. the bulbs melt the plastic on the bottom. it happened to my Bronco and guess what? This same forum helped me figure it out. I love this place!!!
