I have an edge evolution and i was wondering if you other guys that have em, do u notice it doesn't like to lock the t/c up until it is in over drive and its shift from 3rd to od is always a big gap. I mean i can make it lock up the t/c in 3rd but it feels like i almost gotta put the pedal down halfway b4 it will lock. I guess i am just wondering if they are all this way or not. For you guys that have dp tuners, do they act this way or do they lock the t/c sooner so shifts are better?
thanks for any info.
I notice that it will not lock the convertor unless it is 4th. But if im between 45-40 and i give it just the right amount and its already locked in 4th, it will downshift to third keeping the the TC locked. Idk what you mean about big gap between 3rd and od.
its like in 3rd the t/c won't be locked and it will revving to about 2000 rpms and then at 40 or so it will shift into od with the tc locked and it will drop down to like 1100 rpms or so. just seems also like in 1st or 2nd its like to let the motor stay at 2000 rpms almost if u take off with traffic normal and like it lets the motor rev more then locking the tc and going.
Okay, yea my does that too. If i am trying to keep the revs under 2K it will hold out a long time to shift. Most of the time if it wont shift i will just give less pedal pressure and it will shift, or i just let it do its own.
i guess i was just wondering how other tuners shifted b/c b/c i kinda like the way my truck shifts in the stock tune b/c it seems to lock the tc a lil better.
I had an edge evolution also and my truck never shifted right if I used anything above the lowest 65HP setting. I also called edge and asked them about this issue and they told me to send in the programmer for a free software upgrade wich should remedy the problem. It didn't. I then sold it on ebay and purchased a bully dog power pup. Truck shifted fine on all settings including the 120HP. But to be fair I have to admit the Edge programmer gave the truck more punch. To be fair more power = more tranny slip. If your tranny is the least bit worn and you add 80-100+ HP it's not going to transition between gears as firmly. I always wished the truck would shift like stock with the Edge Evolution in race mode. It was a bullet !
