I am not saying not dooable, I am saying not worth the saved dollars for a non professional to attempt, unless you have the cash to have your rig towed home or the cash to get a new pumpkin and a set of gears. I rebuilt my Outdrive on my boat, took me 9 hours to do the total job including the shimming. I have no reason to do it again. I jst pay an accountant to do tax stuff, a lawyer to keep me out of jail, and in this case would pay to have gears done. I just do not like to be 8 months down the road and doing 70 on I82 and have my rear end explode at 2AM
well i am young and dumb but i just got the truck and it only has 55k miles on it and i eventually planning on hauling a lot of friewood in it and scrap a lot with ill be using a trailer too
I understand the desire to do the work you need done, I have always done all of my own work but do leave certian things to pros. Or in some instances to the guy that can do it quicker and with less frustration that I can. If i had a shop and a project truck I may do it myself. But to pull it apart on a saturday and try to get it done by night fall........ Hell no, not anymore. To those that still do that stuff and are not totally strapped for cash, Good for you!
