Alan (if I can take the liberty of assuming that's your name), that amounts to the problems with the lie-o-meter. It doesn't lie, it's just giving false hope without really liein

Your numbers sound just about right. Maybe a bit high, unless you have a regular-cab 2WD ..

But some decide that taking your foot off the go-pedal and hitting reset, and waiting 30 seconds amounts to "real" mpgs. Or so they say.

I'll agree BSEG is much better when cash flow is good. I'm just finishing up school and feeding the V-10 can get to be a bit much -

On another note-

I drafted a semi that was going 70 mph the other day and I was able to go 20 miles on one gallon! too bad he went west when i was going east...

A couple of weeks ago after driving on I-80 with a nice tail wind, I filling up at my favorite "Carbon Clumb Free" Gas Station Chevron, I reset the OD and calculated the gas milage. I swear to GOD (we can say GOD here, right) I got 22 mpg!!!! Then I realized I must of forgot to reset it the last time I gassed up, because I had gone 505 miles?? I never get more than 350, but it felt real good, sounded good too.

My 1999 v10 would only get 11-12mpg on the hwy and about 8-9 in town. Some of you are claiming better mileage than my 1/2 ton with the 5.4... Keep in mind I live in Oregon and there is no such thing as a level road here. To travel 40 miles on the hwy you will have to climb at least 3000' in elevation...

I loved my v10 but I had to trade her in because it had a serious drinking problem.

My 2001 V10 gets over 16 on the highway. At basically sea level

My house is about 35 feet above sea level according to my GPS.

Even up to 2000 ft, I get 16 or better.

I did a recent trip Labor Day from Long Island to Conesville, NY, around 2100 ft elevation, with lots of hills inbetween. Got 16.2 average over the 300 mile trip (went on a detour and came back - really only 225 miles in one straight run). Have done this at least once a year since I got my SD. Same thing every time.

3.73 gears.

Interesting reading, I have always taken peoples MPG figures with a grain of salt. I don't have my '08 SD v-10 yet. but reading others MPG figures I would hope to get 11-12MPG with my normal mix of driving. I currently have a 95 F350 with a V8 460, I did keep a track of MPGs at one time but I quit because I did not like my figures, now I just fill it and forget it. But my calculations was at that time; towing horse trailer with overhead camper = 8.0MPG, 1000 mile interstate = 15MPG (one time), normal mixed driving 11MPG it has a 3.53 rear end so that may help some. I do know that stop and go kills the MPGs. So I guess I could brag about getting 15MPG.

Enomra, I heard in Oregon you can't fill your own tank? Does that not help in getting and accurate mpg reading for any vehicle for you Oregonins?

Yeah you are correct as some attendants fill to the top and some stop when it first clicks off. I get my fuel at the same place and they will top it off for me. But you do bring up a great point...

My God man...that's stupidly rediculous! Friggin' envionmentalists(or at least I assume)... They wipe your butt too so that you don't use too much paper?

Back to the topic, I normally get 15 HWY, and ~12 City in my '02 2WD "X". Kinda surprises me too about some that get much worse. I will say mine rarely sees more that 2100RPM.

9+ around town, 12-14 highway, could probably get better but it is just too difficult to keep my foot out of it, bottom line, i floor my truck every time i drive it, not because i have too, but because i love the acceleration

(alan it is )
Mine is a 2000 excursion Ltd.2wd
also i drive it real easy, except once in awhile I want to flush the toilet on the gas, and I nail it coming off the line. it always surprises those Suburban owners.
The lie o meter, seems to be close, but yeah it can make ya feel better....or worse depending on how badly it lies.

how about how many miles you have gone on a 39 gallon tank? that takes calibration out of it. my first tank with my new 350 v10 and im on 350 miles and low fuel light hasnt come on yet? sure hoping it gets a little better but cant tell really until i see how much fuel she drinks when i fill up. i know my 2004 ps would go over 600 miles on tank.

My numbers were calculated, but by the gallons shown on the pump and the odometer. I never let my tank get below 1/4 so I don't know how far per tank.
