i have a small drip coming from the bottom radiator hose where it connects to the water pump, now i am assuming that the seal is gone on housing where the hose connects, but i also notice that the housing is a rust color, do you guys think i should change that piece as well or just get the gasket, and should i replace the thermostat as well, i assume thats where it is located.
I would double check and make sure that it's not coming from the weep hole on the waterpump itself.
Airtex makes a one piece pump that eliminates that plastic housing as well.
The t-stat is on top of the pump, remove the upper rad. hose and you will see it.
whereabouts is the weep hole, i havent looked under the hood yet, also if it was the waterpump that is the problem, do i need any special tools to replace it? and what about the rusty housing, is it just normal?

The paint flakes off, and bare metal rusts, normal.
The weep hole is south of the pulley on the waterpump
Basic tools to replace the pump if you need to, getting the fan clutch off is the hardest part
