I have a nice shiny rebuilt C6 for my 460. The trans is out of a '79 F-150 2wd. The trans in going in a '68 M-100 2wd. The 460/ C6 that was in the '68 came from a '75 Lincoln. I never noticed until I had the old C6 out, that the tailshafts, and tailshaft housings are different from trucks to cars. The one from the car is longer. I need to take the tailshaft and housing from the car C6, and install it on my rebuilt truck C6. I've checked a few threads, and it seams I'll have to disassemble both trans to do the swap. Will a HAYNES manual be good enough to guide me through this mess. I've disassembled and rebuilt everything else on this vehicle, so I'm pretty good when it comes to this kind of stuff, and I have a clean area to work. I need advise quick, cruising season up here in the North is almost here. Thanks in advance.
One thing to do is keep a clean clean clean clean !clean! bench, lay the parts out in order you took them out. Just reverse the process for assembly, snap ring pliers, socket or two and some patience. I have a book with specifications too if you need any, good luck

Thats exactly what I did with my E4OD project. I didn't even have a manual (though I probably should have ).
I used a piece of surplus vinyl decking as a table cover for a clean surface, and I used up every inch of a 5x6ish work table.
