Bronco Shaking bad
I just put brand new 16x38.5x15 tsl swampers on my 79 bronco. We took it offroad today and the whole way there it would shake really bad until we got it over 50 mph. sometimes it would shake big time and i would have to hold the wheel real tight to keep it straight. When i almost got home and was coming up a hill it seemed like the front tires shimmied to the side( turned a little because the wheel turned to the side some). I slowed down and barely gave it gas the rest of the way home trying not to throw a tire or axle. Is this because i probably need to get it realigned or is it a brake or driveshaft thing. Or possibly a timing problem because i know thats off. Also what would be the downside to not getting it realigned. thanks

Wow...seems like if it didn't shake before you installed the new tires (& wheels ?) you know where to look to fix your problem...
Bent, bad or out-of-round wheels, tires out of balance, loose or worn wheel bearings showing up due to larger tires, and of course wheel alignment. Are your new 'swampers' a quality brand...they could even be out of round - I've seen that more than once, even on 'street' tires!
Take it to a good tire buy, have em' check it out for you...Good luck.

The thing is the day i put the tires on we drove it around and picked up my brother from school and it rode real smooth. The tsl's were great and made no noise and didnt shake. Now all of the sudden two days later they are shaking. I think the calipers scraped the balanced weights a little and that is why. But i still am puzzled cause its good over 50mph

If your tires check out. Then check the track bar bushings. (did you replace the track bar with an adjustable one when you lifted the truck) These like to go bad on lifted Broncos. Replace them with poly bushings and you should be ok. Also check the shock mounts. Sometimes the bolt holding the mount to the frame may come lose. Your track bar is bolted to the drivers side one as well. Good luck.

Before i was running 38x12.5x15 inch tsl's but when i bought the bronco they were bald and looked like they wore quicker on the inside. I am not sure about the track bar but i will check that out and probably change the bushings anyways( that is always a good idea). It also wont hurt me to go around and tighten everything up.
It is just so weird that it ran smooth after we installed the tires and now it doesnt and it shakes. I also need to get spacers because the front wheels are rubbing the trac bar and headers when turned all the way. You think i should put spacers in the rear as well to even out the tires.

The track bar is a rod that goes from the drivers side shock mount to the otherside and bolts to the axle. The bar that your tires are rubbing on is the radius arm. Check these also as the stock bushings are crap. Sometimes these things just happen. Check the tires then the bushings you will find it somewhere.
