Any reduction in back pressure will help, to a point.
Looking at your vehicle singature, and based on all the reading I've done about the experience of MANY others here in FTE, you really need to consider getting rid of that K&N setup. The 6637 will give you better air flow and better filtration, and is only about $25-$35 installed. I'm sure that it will not be long before plenty of other FTE'ers will chime in along the same lines.
As a side note, you might want to try using some periods at the end of your sentences... makes it a lot easier to read.
As far as fitting in the stock air box... LOL... not a chance... The thing is absolutely HUGE, but it does manage to fit under the hood with careful placement. Look in my gallery and you can see my installation pics and description. (Click on my user ID and select "View Gallery").

15 mpg towing 6500 lbs. doing 75-80 mph in high altitude. The throttle response is nice from 70+ too.
You'll lose a bit off the line because of a tiny bit slower spool up from the reduced back pressure, but perfect for on the road haulin a$$.

Nothing sounds better than 444cu inches of diesel power rumbling out of a sewer pipe.

I love the sound of my new SS 4" MBRP with muffler, too. Been driving around with that dumb grin on my face now for 2 1/2 weeks. I gotta hear a muffler-less 5" one of these days, though. I was real close to buying the 5" aluminized, but went with the 4" SS instead. I really like the sound, and the looks. I guess it comes from my Mustang days -- that certain tone a high performance exhaust has always gets my head to turn. But not too damn loud, either. I've been hearing a few gasser trucks around here with some obnoxiously loud pipes, and I'm just not comfortable doing that to my neighbors. It's hell to get old...
