I have asked this question here before. Each time I change my oil I get a violent engine knocking sound for about 2 or 3 seconds after start up. It goes away immediately but this cannot be normal. It seems to only occur after an oil change. I have tried adding oil to the new filter before installation and that does nothing. Could I be doing something else wrong?
I usually hold the gas peddle down (engine will not start) on the 1st start after I change the oil. You do this until the oil pressure starts to read. Never any knocking on my truck.
ok, so after you change the oil you get in the truck put the gas peddle to the floor and turn the key and the truck doesn't start......or am i reading that wrong....
and if i'm reading that right how many times do you turn the key until oil is up around the engin again...?????
Knocking and engines that won't start on first crank after an oil change?
These are issues with both trucks IMO. After I do a change I just poke my head in the cab as I'm standing outside beside the truck and simply turn the key once to fire it up. Starts right up and no knocks or funny sounds at all.
Do you still have warranty?

never heard of this before...
I only turn the key once, and continue letting the engine turn over until the oil gauge starts to read. Turn key off...then start normal with your foot off gas.

thats what i would think....but from what i've just read you put the skinny peddal to the floor and turn the key...

i would think that with all the oil changes i've done and never had a problem that my new truck wouldn't be any different...i've never bumped the key to prim the system with oil to start and i've never had any knocks....
A customer of mine came in one day to buy oil right after he got his oil changed...the place never put oil back into his engine.
yeah, sure they didn't.....and let me guess....he drove the 15 or 20 miles home with no oil in the engin....and if they didn't put oil in it and he walked from the place that did the oil change to buy oil to walk back there again and put it in himself he's a retard....
1) I put a dip in (if the old lady's not lookin')
2) I get my rags, filter, 6 qts of 5W-20 synthetic blend or synthetic, oil drain pan and crescent wrench (OK, fine, it's some made in china spin off brand)
3) crawl under truck
4) remove drain plug (after i put the pan under it)
5) remove filter
6) check out the undercarriage while it drains
7) lube filter gasket
8) install filter
9) install drainplug
10) pull pan and tools our from under truck
11) add 6 qts of oil
12) reach in, crank truck
13) listen for any weird sounds (NEVER heard any)
14) check for leaks
15) smile
16) take dip out
17) brush teeth
