$30 bucks a piece for OEM's at directfordparts. Ive never riden with OEM shocks under me, so would this be a good deal? Do OEM's ride smooth? I'm just checking out both ends of the spectrum before I buy.
$30.00 sounds like a good deal for OEM's. But IMO bilstein will be the last shock that you would ever buy. Are you lifted or stock? For other shocks that I have run have been skyjacker and super lift are good. I have never been a big fan of OEM style shocks, and it has been so long since I have run them. It comes down to how much you want to spend? Are you towing? Are you hauling? I would look around for the best all around shock that you can get for your money.
KYB Monomax on my 2002 f350. They made a huge difference in ride quality even with my big camper on the back. Research them a little before you go with some of the bigger names. KYB has been around a long time in the racing scene.
I'm not towing and not hauling, commuter truck to school right now, on a tight budget. Occasional 250 mile round trips to mom's house but that is it. Have a 3rd leaf added up front to level the truck out other than that it is stock. KYB is big (or was when I was in) in motocross so I know they do there homework. If you do not mind me asking what did your KYB set up run you?

I really don't remember, I just kept shopping the internet until I found the best deal on them, but I do remember reading a lot before I did it because I didn't know much about them. As I remember I found them much less expensive then the bilstiens or rancheros. I'm always on a low budget so if I can find a quality product for a lower price it usually will make up my mind.
I haul a big camper, probably 4000lbs, so I needed something that would do the job. My OEM shocks were trashed at less then 40,000 miles. You may not need a heavy duty shock if you don't tow.
They make for a nice ride and good handling. When I need to replace them, I will go with the Bilsteins tough. SO many people here have posted good things about them.
You will never regret getting a set of bilsteins and you will get 100,000 out of them but I have never had a set of KYB's and if they last like the bilsteins I would be willing to try them for that price. I would stay away from monroe's and OEM's unless you want to be buying a new set in a year. IMO
