Recall the " Eraser" ?? Repeat offenders can learn fast when they no longer exist, but this reminder tread is a good thing. Jon

Great to see to see this Reminder or as the case maybe First time read for some Newbies/Olde Guard.

W/ your discrectionary powers, as you have in the Past, you read through the messages that are brought to your attention & Call on the Carpet Those that;
Who're Actually Deliberately Misinterpriting members Statements,
Who're not giving a member the Benefit of Doubt,
Who're being an Offensive Name Caller,
Who're being Deliberately Rude,
Who're calling another member a Liar,
Who're stating to another member that their Experiences are Worthless & not Wanted,
Who're being Overtly Insulting to another member or In a Backhanded fashion while believing they are being funny & cool,
Who're being a Loud Squeeky Wheel & Finger Pointer to Cover their own Indiscretions while Complaining to Management about those they are in conflict w/, etc.

I wish you the best & appreciate your time, efforts & constant support.

FTE is one of the Most informative & on the Whole, Friendly places to hang-out in, Especially this '48-'60 Forum.

Thumbs up The good, The bad and the "Why didn't I think of that".

Man! And where have I been? What ever negativity is going around, may it stop. As for me, If I disagree with a post, you won't read about it unless I can factually back up what I want to say. Thanks to many of you, this is a wonderful forum for thoughtful exchange of experience and opinion. Take what you read here and make it yours or don't, but no outright attacks should be tolerated. Nuff said. Keep on Keepin on!

I too must have missed something. I hope nothing I have said has been taken personal, as I try to keep it either informative or humorous. Everyone has an opinion, and unless I can show facts, to not disprove it, but to improve upon it, I won't dispute it.
Morris, you have done a wonderful job keeping this one of the most friendly sites I have had the pleasure of visiting, I hope we can keep it that way for a long time to come.
So, let's keep it friendly folks, I would go into withdrawals if I didn't have FTE to entertain me daily.

We all have opinions. Unfortunately, not everyone has the communication skills necessary to express their opinions in such a way as to be acceptable to everyone else. What may sound like a perfectly reasonable statement in your mind may be received by others as aggressive or sarcastic. As Bobby pointed out there is no inflection in the written word so sometimes things written are badly misinterpreted. I always re-read what I have written in an effort to be sure I have not insulted anyone and that my statements are accurate (as far as I know). We must agree to disagree occasionally. Often there is more than one right answer...

It's always good to post the rules. I, like others am feeling like I must have missed something, as this forum has always been the best and most friendly forum on FTE. It is that way because the members are like family, most poking and jabbing with each much like they likely would do if sitting eye ball to eye ball with each other. Words are only words if without emotion, and will sometimes take on different meanings as you're mood changes. A good policy for all of us, especially when we feel our emotions are taking over is to take a break then re-read our reply before hitting the 'submit' button.

Well said Vern...I was typing when you were sending.

I have posted less lately cause of the bumping of heads. Example: I read a post on y block engine color and I have the proof to back it up and everyone thinks I'm in left field (except ABE!)

Maybe this is just what the Dr. ordered!

Did this come about after a thread was locked out?

Since I'm 99% only on this forum, I didn't know of a problem.
If I did have a problem, I would PM the bad guy directly and not get the Moderators involved.
I have never had a problem, since I am not sensitive to words. I know I have at times probably offended some, since the horrible spelling does bug me, but I do use the "edit post" feature regularly!

There.....all confessed out....

Getting off the couch,

Paul G.

hi guys....

I've been holding back trying not to respond to this thread, but you know me... I can't keep my mouth shut. Morris and I have swapped a few pms and we're of like mind. A gentle friendly reminder is always taken the right way... and those that need to be reprimanded/scolded/given time out/ or slapped around should be dealt with individually.

Morris does a heck of a job wrangling this herd... and I complimented him on his control with some very loose reins... but every now and then the reins need to be snatched just a little to let the team know they have a bit in their mount (being the forum rules/guidelines). I guess some folks, like horses, are tender mouthed and will be hurt by the bit pulling... but they shouldn't be. Only those that feel guilty about what was mentioned should take it as more than just a reminder.

I noticed that this forum has 19,838 threads with 173,384 posts piled up in them... I don't know how many members we have but it's a bunch. All that says is we 48-60 guys seem to talk a lot about a lot of things !! (probably too much) but when you consider that it is only occasionally that we have a heated confrontation between members... it probably says a lot about the civility and relationship we share... I don't think there is one of us who if needed wouldn't drop anything they were doing to help another of us out of a jam... and considering that most of us are strangers (me being more strange than most) that speaks volumes about the kind of people we as a group are. I'm glad to be a part of that group... I consider you all family and honestly like some of you more than my family !!!

so straighten up ... you nare-do-wells... the whole bunch of you!!!... or Morris is gonna get the whip on our backsides... he's just been itching to pop that thing anyway !!!

later
John

I am just a new guy, but already I so enjoy this site. I can't imagine trying to get a rig running without all this expertise. I agree with all of the above. It's a great site and a fantastic group of people. We like to say "Your the good guys"

I feel that jimhackney hit the nail on the head with this: the written word takes on a "sinister" role that I'm sure nobody wants.
Sometimes going to the source works and when it doesn`t (possibly because of improper explaination on my part) it has to end up here.
Please keep your thoughs coming, it IS appreciated very much. You all are what makes this forum so great.
Anyone who thinks they have to put a disclaimer about their comments, in bold red, in every post in their signature is a potential problem and THEY know it....You know who you are.

By the way, the offenders should not be given special treatment because they're a "supporter" or for any other reason(s).

At the risk of being confrontational, I'd like to suggest that being sarcastic, abusive, silly, rude, and stupid, CAN be fun for some people and may, knowingly or unknowingly, hurt others. On another board, much of the foregoing is standard practice and, for the most part, doesn't really bother anyone there, or, perhaps, they just don't care.

I salute Morris for his gentlemanly manner and drawing our attention to the notion that we are "family oriented" and have ruled out the behaviors listed above, among others. Although I like to tease and poke fun from time to time, I will honor his request and respect my fellow FTE'ers. When I'm feeling rowdy, I'll go elsewhere.

There is too much at stake for each of us, in terms of what we can share and how we can benefit from being members here. Thank you, Morris.

respectfully, himmelberg
