i have a 1998 4.6 liter 4x4. now heres the thing i bought the truck with a leaky windshield. water would make my truck's electrical system act funny. so i had my windshield resealed and fixed the moisture problem. but it rained again and my truck still acts like it hates getting wet, but cant seem to find a water leak. So i took my truck to the shop and i was told that when my fuse box got wet it caused corrosion and when it drys the corroision looses its conductivity. but when there is moisture in the air the corrosion regains its conductivity. so can this happen?
you might be able to clelan the parts with contact cleaner and scrub with a tooth brush. then blow out with air. that might help somewhat, but normally the corrosion is not just setting on the surface, it has etched the copper, steel, etc and has pits and erroded points, not just the corrosion setting on top.
well my old fuse box is back in the truck and its running just fine, but there was an obvious leak in the windshiel that was fixed. with the source of the problem fixed i just have to hope and pray that my fuse box was worth keeping. oh yeah im a cheap guy.
