Steering shafts
I have a 90 bronco that has somewhat of a loose steering. Has anyone installed a new steering shaft in theirs? How hard is it? I have seen advertisements in mags. just wondering if they will help with my problem.

Changing the shaft isn't that big a deal, but I wouldn't first suspect this as your problem. First, I'd check the tie rod ends, ball joints, radius arm bushings....... basically your front end, to make sure everything was tight. If so, then look at the steering box. There are a number of posts in this and in the truck section that discuss how to adjust these to remove play, but at 12 years old, you may be due for new seals, also, and may want to consider a remanufactured box. They sell for around $200.00 (with exhange) at most parts stores.
