Welcome to FTE.
Some programmers (superchips ect) can scan diesels. If you plan on updating your truck with a re-programmer they are the cheapest way to go. However, reprogrammers are not a good as Chips form DP tuners ect.
The best are AE Autoenginuity the cheapest place to get one is here:

It's expensive and requires a PC (Laptop). Get the Ford enhanced codes.
