part of the reason is for feezing up, part is for emissions.

the government frowns upon bringing the engine to 1500 until warm.

the ozone is not too happy either.

if it really bothers you disconnect it.
What does a hot/warm throttle body once operating temp is met do for emissions?

Many things make sence and no, buying a Hundai is not one of them.

The coolant passing through the TB does not bother me, but thanks for your concern.

Subford, come on back, //does this mean there is coolant coming thru a passageway in the block thru to a passage way in the TB?
I had the engine out of my truck, the TB and plenum was off the block and I didn't notice any coolant lines/passages, I sure don't have any coolant lines visible on my 4.9L, I specifcally remember my 302 had a line in and out of the sides of the TB.
I looked under the hood today and did notice that there is a threaded hole with a threaded plug installed..it is on top of the TB right next to the air valve. Signed, confused

after it warms up nothing, i think it is for the time when it is warming up.

the arrow on the instrument that tells my which side the gas fill is on makes no sense to me.

even if it does not bother you, you can disconnect it if you want too.

Oh man.. GM is the KING of bandaid engineering!! How about the V8 distributor in the early V6 motors. The cap had funky elongated contacts on 2 posts that produced a lopey idle. Cool right... except it would destroy a timing set in 30k. If you left it too long the chain would wear a hole in the timing cover. How many injectors do you think those TPI 305/350 motors had? If you guessed 8 you would be wrong... 'cause they had 9. The extra squirter was hidden on the underside of the plenum. I can only assume it was for cold starting... but why they didn't just program this into the computer is anybody's guess.

I do not know, this is just what the Ford shop manual said for 1992 4.9. Although for 1992 4.9 the images did seem to show two nipples where hoses could go but it did not talk about them. I can post a link to the image if you like.
