I have a 2006 SD 6.0L and my father in law has an 04 SD 6.0L, we pulled up to a jobsite yesterday and both shut our trucks off, mine shut down fine, and his made a noise like a pump that was still running. He said the dealer told him it was the injectors draining? Never made that noise until the last time he took it in for a clogged EGR valve, does this make sense? Is it from a reflash of the computer maybe?
When I shut my 7.3 down, I can sometimes hear the turbo forcing air through as it spins down. My theory on why I only hear it sometimes is that it would depend on the position of the valves when the engine stops.
Sounds like the dealer installed the flash that cycles the injectors after shutting down the truck. Apparently, it helps with "stiction" when the truck is first fired up. My knowledge on this is minimal, but there's all kind of posts in the 6.0L forum about this.
