I work for myself; I'm an OTR trucker.

Working for oneself does have it's benefits, but complaints to the management seldom get very far.

Been toying with the idea of getting self-unemployed... sometimes a regular check and a life is worth more....

heres how you stop it people need to stop hiring that particular company...either that or guys like me and you have to stop charging a fair price and give jobs away so we can beat the guy who hires ten illegals gives em $20 plus a cooked chicken a day and cranks out the work cheap...then again call me a racist but I market myself with pride as being a Licensed Bonded and Insured AMERICAN Contractor. I bring noone on the site who is NOT American and most of my employees ( subcontractors) are off duty firemen or cops.. who will not hire anyone who is not American..I pride myself on that and tell the customers they dont have to worry about who is working at their house.. I cater to seniors, divorced women, handicapped, and elderly.. You would be surprised how many of them are willing to pay to have an American working at their house. Of course my charm wit and personality also does wonders for selling the business too

Self employed handyman/painter.
Whatever needs fixing, I'll fix it or try to.
I like the small jobs.

I also used to make Eisenhower silver dollars.
Had my own press and dies.................... Seriously.

OK...............It was at the Bureau of the Mint; Coining Division here in san Francisco.

As for the undocumento aliens (illegals) they are driving down the wages.

I'm also waiting to win the lottery.
I guess I'll have to get struck by lightning...twice, and get attacked by a shark before the odds are in my favor.

I have owned and operated a small engine repair shop for the last ten yrs but this is the last yr for me as I am now disabled.I loved being my own boss and had a great mechanic for 6 of the 10 yrs I was open but I to made more money by myself.I feel it is a good time to get out anyway as most power equipment sold by box stores is junk and a lot of the time it is better to replace the unit then repair it.
