i dont thinks its worth the cash, those speakers specs are weak at 5.8 oz and 10 watts, they'll blow quick, for example i have two 6x9s in little boxes they each have 40oz magnets and 200 watts rms, boxes were $28 a pair, speakers were $100 for a pair. They sit in my floorboard and the sound fills the cab, helps to have an amp to run em'. The headliner setup said $220 plus at least $55 shipping, tax too? the math is undeniable
I installed some 6x9s on the bottom of the door cut out a piece of 1/4'' waffle board and covered it with some fabric looks pretty good and very inexpensive. I bought some 6x9s at pepboys for 20.00 a pair the fabric and glue was about 15.00 and the board I got at work for free.
I made an easlily removabal enclosier in my 82 f150...
A pair of "dual" branded 6.5" speakers mounted in an inclosier that I built to sit ontop of the transmission hump, under the dash partially.
I used quick disconnects so that if i needed 3 ppl in there, I could take it out easy. Ran the wires under the dash... Very simple to get that box out...
When my radio got stolen, they cut the $5 quick disconnects, and took my custom encloier that will NOT fit anything but an older f series trucks... I didnt even screw the damn speakers to the enclosier, because I also made a cup holder fit in there, so yeah... bastages took that too... The speakers were $30 too, but sounded pretty good off headunit power (im sure they're crap if amped... but W/E)
hmm thanks some good ideas, im gonna have to look up under the dash tomorow (sat) and see about building my own custom box, more work but at least if i do it myself ill know its time and money well spent!
If you want some speakers in the headliner for the cool factor get you some little tweeters. My friend had them in his old station wagon and they sounded good. They're pretty small so they shouldnt be hard to fit in the headliner. Custom box would be cool too, I've always wanted to mount marine speakers in my bed, but couldn't figure out how to mount them. Was thinking of mounting them on the wheel wells and making a shield underneath so rocks and dirt dont get all over them. Yall think it can be done?
yea but they better be pretty shallow, because your wheen well is there for a reason, and if you have a load in or hit some rough road your tires might nock the speakers out!
