I Know Nothing About Brakes. I Was Wondering If Yall Would Know What Would Be Involved In Fixing This And What Might Be Wrong. And How Much It Would Cost$$
I Have A 90 F250 Straight 6 And There Is Brake Fluid Leaking From The Big Drum Looking Thing That Surounds The Brakes.
It is no big deal you can get a kit and rebuild it for 10 dollars or buy a rebuilt cylinder and put it on but if the shoes are wet from brake fluid then you need to replace them and it is better to do both sides.
if you haven't done brakes then you need someone that knows how to help you or take it to a good garage.

Yeah ... You should do the wheel cylinder and shoes on both sides. If you are interested in doing it yourself, you can get a chilton's or Haynes manual, which should have pictures to guide you. I did my first brake job at 16.
Another trick is to jack up both rear wheels. Take off both drums. Work on ONE wheel at a time. If you can't figure out how to put things together, use the other wheel as a guide.
Thanks For The Reply. Yeah I Forgot To Mention It Is In The Rear.
Im Going To Get A Friend Of Mine That Knows Brakes To Look At It. I Just Dont Want It To Be Big Money..
The only "uncommon" tools you might need is a brake spring tool and a brake adjusting spoon. You'll probably have to adjust the brake shoes away from the drum to get the drum off, and when you get everything back together and the drum back on, you'll want to adjust the shoes so there's a very light drag on the drum.
You might also want to invest in a set of line wrenches, if you don't already have some...they'll make taking the brake line out of the wheel cylinder a WHOLE lot easier. Much less likely to round off the nut.
Also remember that there are primary and secondary shoes and don't mix them up...i found out the hard way (don't let a 5 year old help you and let him bring you the shoes from the box) and assembled mine with both primarys on one side and both secondarys on the other and couldn't fingure out why i couldn't get the brake drum back on...just a thought.
