wiring harness

You didn't say if your existing harness is original or later. Looking at safety and being able to have parking, backup, turn signals you may be better off buying a new complete after market harness. There are many to choose from and you can have one to match your existing equip such as steering wheel, radios, a/c, heater etc. Easy to install. Most are under $200.00. Hope this helps. chuck

You might do a search on "wiring kit" or "wiring harness" or just "wiring" as there have been several threads discussing the various aftermarket items available.

If you are talking about the OEM wiring harness, there is very little of the required wires in it to hook to. There are no fuses/panel to get power from (you could get it from an original breaker, but it won't be fun to have your lights blinking on and off from an overloaded breaker) There is no turn signal wiring (turn signals were not required at the time your truck was manufactured) and no flasher. There may not even be the right bulb sockets in your tail and parking lights for the required 2 filiment bulbs.
Installing a new wiring harness is the best way to go, it's not difficult all the wire are color coded and their purpose is stamped on them all along their length, and replacing the 50 year old, fire waiting to happen, wiring is a safety factor as well. A new fuse panel will give you the capacity to add all the "must have" electrical and electronic accessories to your truck down the road. The harnesses will come with a plug for the Ididit column already installed as well.
Note there are a few "famous" brand harnesses that are are very pricey, but there are several others that don't think their wires are made of gold. Check out "EZ Wire" and "Its a Snap" for realistically priced quality harnesses. Add plenty of capacity now to avoid the typical underdash rats nest of wires later.

If the Camaro column had a connector on it then the same connector should work with the ididit column. If not, then you can purchase the connectors from various wiring vendors such as Ron Francis Wireworks, Painless, EZ Wire, etc.
Just call one of them and tell them what you have and they should be able to get you the correct part.

The Ididit connector is a std GM connector. your old harness connector should just plug in.
