I have a 2004 fx4 f150 with 20000 miles
I noticed lately that when i turn corners from a stop, there is a
shuttering/chattering noise. feels like the rear end is slipping or missing.
also when i accelerate from a stop as well.
I had the same thing happen four times and every time they replaced the differential fluid.
Finally it was fixed when they followed some special articlet hat said to drain the fluid completely and then re add some special version of the differntial fluid.

That would probably be the friction modifier that they added, apparently they neglected to do so on your previous trips. Why they had to refer to some special article is beyond me, when adding the modifier is even mentioned in the owner's manual!

Just because they work at a dealership doesn't mean they have a clue. THIS GUY has relatives working at dealerships all over the country.
Thanx people, Ya i found the tsb for this problem.
I printed out the tsb and will put it on the steering wheel
when i take it in. Hopefully they will see the tsb.
Also there is a tsb for, when the engine makes rattling noises. my truck
sounds like a deisel and it is not a deisel
Just tell them to take care of clutch pack AND slip yoke replace! both has a TSB for it!
I went thru clutch pack it solved problem on corner but the problem is still there is straight drive from dead stop. so they replaced whole driveshaft and its all GONE!
the new clutches are a different design- friction material is kevlar. if they relpace them, the problem should be fixed. as far as being a serious problem, not really- just very annoying.
Hello All
Dropped the truck off at the local ford dealer.
Sure enough it is the clutch packs. But have to bring the truck back
in 1 week. Have to wait for parts, the dealer should stock many of the clutch
packs. For what i've seen, many fords are experiencing this problem.
Checked out some of the TSB's up top and I'll be damned if I don't have symptoms for at least 2 of them. I've never had to deal with a dealer and TSB's before. Do they usually give you a hard time about them? I mean, they pretty much have to repair the stuff at no cost to the owners right?
My truck is still under warranty too. I'm all spooked out about these now lol.
