Considering 2003 Excursion 6.0 PSD - HELP
Currently own a 1998 Expedition with a 4.6 (Wayyyy to small) that has about 200K miles on it.
I am considering a 2003 Ford Excursion Limited 4X4 with a 6.0L PSD. It has about 55K miles.
I need the power to pull a 25 ft Sea Ray (9K lbs) and the room for 3 small kids, 2 dogs + cargo.
I have just read about some issues with the 6.0 PSD in 2003/2004 . Are they true?
Is this an ok purchase or should I look for something different?
What should I look for on a Diesel that I wouldn't on a gasser?

Expedition vs Excursion
Have someone at the forum run an Oasis report on the Excursion by posting the VIN number. If you are buying it from the first time owner, drill him on engine and modification questions.
There are allot of horror stories on the 6.0, but IMO if you find one that has not been chipped or modified monster style there good engines.
I have a 03 FX4 Super Duty with ~60k carry free miles on a bone stock engine, which the Excursion is based on, and as long as the engine has not been tricked out you should be good.
Find a good Diesel mechanic. There are many dealerships that don't have one and they'll cause you more problems.
With the Diesel you can bring everthing and the kitchen sink and have a grin from ear-to-ear while your smoking all the gassers bye.
