Walmart will win them over yet. I shop there, hard to beat low prices. If local companies want my support, they can damn well give me a fair price, or fall to walmart!
For those of you with HBO I believe Penn & Teller are doing an episode on walmart this week, I plan on watching it.
I personally have a few family and friends who work at Walmart and are happy there, so I have no issue with shopping there, maybe that will change tonight but I doubt it.
I used to like Wally World, but now I hate them for one sole reason. There was a 6 acre sand dune literally a 10 minute ATV ride down the trail from my house. It was so much fun the two times I rode out there since I got my ATV. Now there is a super Walmart and a Lowes going in.
I used to like walmart, but i feel that the stuff they carry is cheaper than it was 5 years ago, so i prefer Kmart cause there i can get craftsman tools now.
Wal-Mart is just one of those companies that is so big its like what can you do. Their prices are not that much lower if you really pay attention. Their price on food such as milk, frozen foods, fruit and such are horrible..But I believe that Wal-Mart will be here till the end of time...
Really? Their prices on food and stuff here are pretty good. $1.88 for a gallon of milk, cheapest I've found in town. They are more expensive on some stuff but it's usually not that much. To me it is worth it to pay slightly more and stop in one place rather than driving all over town and going to multiple stores. My time is worth more than I would save by doing that.
I dont know what everyone has against WalMart. "They run out all the mom and pop shops in town". BS! What do they build next to every Walmart? OTHER stores. Every Walmart I have ever seen is next to other stores that are doing just fine. They are usually built as part of shopping center, those other stores arent affraid of opening up next to big bad Walmart. I like to buy American but most of the stuff you buy at Walmart isnt made in America and CANT BE FOUND made in AMERICA anywhere. You are hard pressed to find a TV or other electric product made in America anyways. I did buy a garden hose made in America the other day from WalMart.

Oh, so you think every other business that has a price ten cents higher than Wal-Mart is trying to rip you off? Is that it? Did you ever stop to think that with Wal-Mart's purchasing tactics, ofttimes Wal-Mart can sell an item for less than any other "small" retailer can buy that item for...from the distribution warehouse. How long would preppypyro's store be able to sell widgets for less that you paid for them?
That problem is especially prevalent in areas where people tend to buy by price first and other considerations later.
And it is NOT hard to beat low prices. In fact, it is quite simple if you can hang on long enough for people to find out.
Take shirts, for example. I will never buy another shirt from Wal-Mart ever again. EVERY shirt I have had from there either looses buttons or the button holes come unrevelled within the first dew washings. Later, like after a year or so he sleeves become so short I can't button them anymore without it feeling like some sort of truss across my shoulders. This has happened on shirt after shirt after shirt after shirt after shirt. I am only shopping for quality in shirts from now on (Flannel, dress, whatever).
Some items are the same, but you will notice the other mass-merchandisers are really giving Wal-Mart a run for their money. They may have changed the face of the American landscape, but I wouldn't take too much pride in that feat. Look at what has been toppled...institutions like Sears, Kresge's, They're all in trouble....and YOU, the comsumer is left with fewer home-town jobs and fewer stores and items to choose from. All to make a rich family even richer.
