I used to work for Wal-Mart and loved it. I made $13.50 an hour there when I left to move back to Indiana. They treated me good and gave me a job when no one else would. When I worked there, there would be picketers infront of the store on Mondays to protest about Unions. The funny thing is is when 5pm would come along they would put there signs in thier cars and come inside to shop.

I can honestly say I have never in my life seen so much absolute waste as I have in the past 3 months. Whole pallets of never opened merchandise thrown out because it does not fit on the shelves or it's not listed in inventory. And don't get me started on faulty merchandise. 1 in every 3 car batteries is returned. I know this becuase I'm the one that has to haul them out every day.

how many of you realize that when a maufacturer of products (let's say craftsman) wants to sell a power tool at (to) walmart for, let's say a $20 for a drill, walmart will tell them no, we will buy it for $16 and no less? do you know what this does for smaller companies? it's either "our price or nothing". then a yr later when crafty's in the door, selling power tools at wally, wally will say "now we are only going to buy them for $15 a drill... and it keeps going. next comes outsourcing to other countries to keep costs down, and the ball keeps rolling. it's sickening.

oh well. go wally to those who like it. me, i'll be at ma and pa's 7-11.
yeah, i do buy some things at wally. but i'd rather spend my money at smaller, locally-owned stores when i can. at least they aren't getting the shaft. wally is a joke. people say they have so many employees and are helping the economy soo much... blah blah blah. anyone realize the trade deficit we are at? no wonder why places like china don't import stuff from the u.s. they make most of it...

The only reason Wally World has done well is because of demand, period and that's the key to capitalism. If people didn't want Wal-Mart, or in some cases need Wal-Mart, they wouldn't make any money and wouldn't have the growth they've had. I agree with some of the arguements people put forward at times, but that's the nature of business in general. People nowadays are more concerned with convenience than anything else, and when people can buy more for their dollar in one store, rather than run all over the place to 5 different stores, they're going to do it. I know I'm guilty of it.

I shop Walmart. They have the best prices on the stuff I buy there. I can't understand the hate Walmart crowd. Walmart just sells what many people want. I know the unions hate Walmart but I'm not union so I don't care.

From what I understand, they sell the product before they’ve even paid for it… Easy to sell something you don’t own. I’ve had contractors tell me that if you want the job, you’ll have to wait 3 months after the fact to get paid.

Well I am a big fan of Walmart and a shareholder. I think it's a great American Success story. Who knew that a 5 foot nothing hick from Arkansas would completely change the way people shop, the competitors didn't even pay attention to him. Bless his heart he drove a old Ford pickup till the end of his life. Sam was a brilliant retailer. http://www.walmartfacts.com/FactShee...rate_Facts.pdf
Numbers speak and Walmart employs a lot of people here and abroad. I certainly do not wish them harm.

Our town says no to a wal-mart ever.

We have one to shop at 15 minutes south

or 15 and 25 Minutes North.

That's close enough for my liking.

I see no one from the deep south has posted about wallys mishaps, so I'll mention them. Walmart is one of the most racists businesses in the south(hiring, job designations, and to the customers). I have three within 15 minutes of me and they're building a fourth now. They've destroyed over 3,000 acres of woodland and forest. Instead of doing the right thing with two of them and tearing down the old ones they moved across the street and built new ones(killing even more land)so they wouldn't lose sales or makes customers drive another ten miles to the next one. They are and have been a plauge to the people of america since Sam Walton died. I'm certain he would not be pleased with the bad business practices by his daughter. With him it wasn't about the money, it was about the customer, and that is what they have lost sight of since his passing.

One last thing- never buy temp. controlled food products from wally. Down here there is a walking of the store once a shift(every 6-12 hours) they round up all the goods that are out of place and throw them into a buggy, including food. It is then taken to customer service where it sits for another shift or two, then it is returned to it's proper location. This is a common practice.
I've seen ground beef sit on a shelf on the other side of the store for hours, get picked up and taken to customer service, then taken back to the meat department and put back into the case for sale. The meat has been at room temp. for several hours and is treated like anything else, put back where it's supposed to be.

I have'nt been to walmart in months and will not go there. I will never buy food products from them- that is what I have a grocery store for. I will not buy their other products, regardless of the prices, this is what I have a target for.

Everything I need can be bought at target,kroger/publix/whole foods, lowes/home depot, and Longhorn...................nuff said!

I agree. Anyone that wants to read a real American success story should read Sam Walton's biography.

How long would preppypyro's store be able to sell widgets for less that you paid for them?

I didnt say they are trying to rip me off, but if you want to go pay ten cents more then I can go to walmart and get it for, well thats your money your wasting! As far as how walmart does it, i could care less, as long as they get a product to me, for a low price for that product, they have my support.

Walmart has job openings all the time. My sister worked for them changing tires and she loved working there. She ended up eventually finding a better job but got a great start at walmart.

Oh a different note, does anyone else think that walmart might take mcdonalds under their wings, and really control the world? lol

In just about every walmart i have been in, ive seen blacks, whites, browns, reds, you name it working there, and shopping there, what have they done down south that gives them the title of being the most racist?

Now I dont want to get too much into it, but isnt lowes, home depot almost comparable to walmart? Just on a smaller scale?
