I spent many hours over the past 2 weekends doing maintenance and mods to my truck. Guzzle92's website made it all a lot easier. For those who haven't been to it, here's the link. Good writeups with step by step pics.
Thanks Guzzle92!
I did:
Front/rear differential fluid change
Transfer Case Change to Synthetic
Needle Bearing Maintenance
Autolock Hub Maint- although one of mine needs to be replaced-very difficult to turn.
Hutch/Harpoon Mod- with kit from ITP
What did I learn?
Don't over torque the diff covers. If you do, you'll squish all the sealant out and have a leak. When I redid my rear diff , I tightened the bolts down just enough for the sealant to start coming out the sides and then let it set up overnight. The next day I finished snugging them down. I had caught the fluid when I drained it because I didn't want to spend $15/quart again. I strained it through a t-shirt and poured it back in.
Also, I give props to anyone that put their fuel tank back in by themselves. That was a pain in the butt for me, but that may have been self-induced.
Instead of removing all 4 bolts on the straps, I removed 2 and bent them down. They don't like bending back in place!
I guess I need to start researching my next mod now. Thinking about doing the T/C lockup. I think that would come in handy when I'm pulling the camper.
Thanks again to all that post and help out in the forums. So far there hasn't been anything that I couldn't solve by coming here and doing research.
