Hey peoples I have a question; When I close my tailgate on my truck
the latch on the driver side does not lock and it springs back open a little bit. You can acctualy move the gate a bit.
I greased it and tryed to adjust the strike pin but it will not
lock down??? When I work it manualy when the door open with a screw driver it works fine...So I did'nt want to try to replace it
yet any suggestions would be nice!

 

Does it still have the little plastic sleeve around the strike? The sleeve broke and fell off on mine and the tailgate does have slop in it as a result--enough to keep the window switch from working sometimes. Good luck.

the problem is that the latch will not stay close around it.

Hey, that happened to my 81 a couple months ago. I still haven't gotten it to relatch, and in the process, I lost my back window. We were trail riding and I had it all the way up, and boom, it shattered. MAke sure you leave the window cracked so its not snugged into the top.
