Bucking at startup
Does anyone have any idea why my engine would be bucking as soon as it starts. By bucking, I mean that the RPMs jump to say 1500 real quick and then return to normal idling. As soon as it fires, sometimes it idles fine, sometimes it will buck just once, and occasionally it will buck two or three times. After this it will idle and run just fine.
Could this be a CPS going bad? Any thoughts?

if it happens when cold could be glow plugs or thick oil. its kind of normal when running thick (15w40) oil in the cold weather
if its warm and even happens when the truck is warmed up you may need a transmission gear selector switch. this assumes you have an auto

Also another thing, over winter it hardly bucked at all on warm startup, but now that it's getting warmer again the problem is reoccurring, as it was happening last summer and fall.
