I had the front end aligned on my 93 F150 (4x4). they told me I needed a 2 degree shim for camber and that I would need to get this from an autoparts store, they didn't have it. No place around here has them, they need to be ordered. Does anyone know where these are available on line? Also, is this something I can do, or is it best left up to the experts? Thanks for your help.
Not difficult but you need the proper tool to pull the old bushing which
surrounds the upper ball joint stud.
http://www.rockauto.com sells the Moog bushing.
Search on part K8859 Moog. Sells for around $15.00.
The bushing depending on its orientation can be plus 2 degrees or
minus 2 degrees.
Here's a picture of a tool that can pull the bushing. Not cheap. Around $75.00. The two shims shown are not used when pulling a Ford bushing.
That tool looks like it would make it easy. It's not "needed" but the old ones can be a royal pain to get out otherwise. I have done it though with using screwdrivers or similar to pry them up. They actually do just sit around the stud of the bushing, nother else (besides the castle nut and friction) hold them in.
Actually, I've never seen a shop that had one before now that I think about it. Maybe that's why they always smile when they see me coming.
Thanks Adam. I bought the new 2 degree bushings today. They cost $43.58 for both. I don't have the extraction tool F150XLT has shown. I would like to but it though. Any idea what the tool is called? I called a couple parts store and asked for a camber adjustment sleve remover and they both had no idea what I was asking for. Thanks.
there are several to choose from, which would be the most likely to buy? my truck was aligned at a tire place and it's obvious the alignment is not right, i don't want to go back there, i don't think they are familiar with lifted trucks. are there any places in upstate ny that can be trusted?
