Hotwire to test for bad ignition switch?
Hotwire to test for bad ignition switch?
I think my ignition switch is bad. Can anyone tell me how to hotwire an 83 Bronco to see if it will start by bypassing the switch? I swear this is for my own personal truck

Just get a Haynes manual or a second switch from a junkyard. This will help you understand which contacts close and open. The switch usually does not go bad ... have you checked your fusable links? What are the symptoms of what is or is not happening when you turn the key? Does the Accy side work?

Bob_VT (or anyone else who reads this),
I have been working on a no-crank condition for a while. See the thread below for full details.

Okay, I read your other posts. Mil1ion is right on the money with his explanation.
At this point I can only suggest you get an inexpensive pocket electric meter (like at a Radio Shack) and review your wires. I would remove each connection (one at a time) sand the metal contacts and re-attach them.
If you had not made and recent changes to the truck's electrical system and this just started to happen I would put money on corrosion or a bad starter solinoid.

have you had your starter bench tested? You might have a bad spot on the armature.
