About every 10 seconds the A/C will cut off, then 10 seconds later will cut back on. It used to do this while in park or neutral, but the dealership "topped it off" and it didn't do it. However, I still notice it cuts on and off when i am accelerating or just driving, but not when at a dead stop in drive.
Any reason why it would do this? I just had a brand new A/C, clutch, etc.. put in September or from this dealership. Supposedly no leaks or anything, blows cold air, but didn't think it was supposed to be cutting on and off??
It is presure sensitive, If it is cold, it is ok. As the temp drops in the evaporator, so does the low side pressure. In cooler ambient temps, it will get cold enough for the pressure to drop to the point where the pressure switch will kick out the compressor. This keeps the evaporator from freezing up. At above idle speeds, the compressor turns faster which will create more suction in the low side. It will probably stay engaged when the ouside temps are up in to the upper 80's and above.
Yep. That's what it's designed to do. With the blower on high, it will probably run longer since the increased airflow will keep the evap from getting as cold. Also it will cycle more if run on max a/c once the inside of the truck has cooled down since it is drawing in cooler inside air.
