major problem

Cool major problem

i was checking my lights on my travel trailer and after i was done i shut off my 1998 ford F150 5.4 v8 auto trans. after i unhooked the trailer i went back to my truck and started it up and my ABS light was on steady then blinked about 12 or 13 light and then repeated and also i cant up my truck in to gear. any help would be great.

i got the number of times that it flashes and it stay on. it flashes 15 times then the 16th it stays on the repeats

Check your fuses. The fuse for the brake lights may have blown.

would a blown fuse stop the truck from going in to gear?

If the fuse is blown, the truck wont know you have your foot on the brake pedal...therefor it wont let you put it in gear (safety feature).

i never got a owners manual with my truck do you know a site where i could download a diagram to show me where the fuses for the brake light are

probably in the instrument panel fuse block, test with a digital multi meter, or test light, continutiy or voltage tests are both good. if this fuse is blown it may affect your park/neutral switch, which would explain why you cant move.

Glad I could be of service!!! If this ever happens again, you can get it out of park by turning the key one "click", and that frees the shift interlock. Just remember, you will have no brake lights.
