Based on the picture below I believe that My '01 X V-10 has a limitted slip diff. w/ 3.73s. I'm going to open up the diff. this weekend, check out the gears, and re-fill it (maybe w/ synthetic?) but I'm having trouble figuring out what fluid to put in it.
I'm no mechanic so forgive the ignorance - but what else do I need to know to get the correct lube? Dana? (don't even know what that means!)
I tow a 7800# TT. Want it to be ready for the Rockies - any need for a diff. temp. gauge?
if you have a 3.73 with limited slip, that's what you have ... but you can look at it on the VIN as well under the pinned topic in the SuperDuty section ..
I probably ought to do the front as well with 100K on the truck. I read in posts that there may be a "dana 50" or "dana 60" depending on the year. The above how-to has a link to another how-to on the dana 60. Would it use the same type of fluid if mine is a 50?
You guys/gals are soooo cool! Helping people like me who have little to no experience is a great thing. Might even help to keep me out of the dealership service center and that's always good!
