Believe it or not, but High Octane gasoline is a lower energy product than Low Octane gasoline. Just as Ethanol is a lower energy product, and Diesel Fuel contains more energy than all.
High Octane gasoline will deliver some advantage in power and mileage, when the motor has sufficient compression to produce that power and efficiency. High Octane fuel in a motor designed for regular fuel will deliver less power and mileage, than the fuel for which the motor was designed.
