I am getting my truck lifted (6" Fabtech) this Thursday and adding 35" tires. I am worried about throwing rocks up the side of my paint and potentially scratching the paint. For the most part my truck will be a concrete warrior, but I would like ot protect the paint from future problems. I have been thinking about adding some fender flares, but not sure which ones would look the best. I have thought about Bushwacker Pocket Flares or the Extend-a-Flare or the ATS flares. Do any of you have flares and if so whuich ones and which ones do you think would look best on my truck? Thanks
I'm like you I, so decided to go with the bushwacker poket flares I didn't get them yet cause I have so many other things coming.Hopefully by the end of the month I think the pocket flares will look awesome.
I was looking at a new/newer 250 SD the other day at the dealer, and it had these bigass ugly plastic things over each wheel well. They looked like they were bolted on. They could have been factory installed for all I know but whoever did that to the truck, was trying to make it look like an Avalanche with all that plastic stuff all over the place, or at least that's what it reminded me of.
those are nice...where did you buy them and do you have to screw through the metal on the truck? did you do anything like Por15 or rustbullet to the holes so they don't rust?
did you paint them?
wondering how the black would look on my white Screw.
KansasJoe - I have seen your truck on another F150 website we are both members of, one of the reasons I am leaning towards the pocket flares.
rsylvstr - From the instructions I have read they basically attach to the truck using existing holes already in your fender. The cheapest I have found the pocket flares like KansasJoe has on his truck is $370 shipped unpainted. I have heard anything from $100 - $350 to color match paint to the trucks. Personally I don't like them unpainted because they have a flat (matte) black finish to them (like the door handles). One of the reasons I put LT handles on my truck was to make it more smooth and clean looking. I know why KansasJoe left his unpainted though and can understand why he choose to do so.

That's correct they bolt into existing holes. The metal bolts you see you have to put in yourself but don't actually bolt to the truck. If your truck is white I would definitely get them painted to match. Costs us 175 to get them painted. Mine aren't painted because I go down a lot of gravel roads and they would just chip the paint.
i was actually thinking of getting them painted black....
Good news is they come in black so you can put them next to the truck and decide if you want to stick with black or not. We just had a white 2500HD chevy we lifted and put the flares on painted to match the paint code and it looked pretty good so it's up to you.
KansasJoe - Are the pocket flares something you sell in your shop? If so I may be interested in purchasing a set from you and having you paint them to match.
