I am installing a 1956 223 six motor in 1954 F100. I am missing the front motor mount bracket that rivets to the backside of the front crossmember on the frame. Does anyone have one laying around they want to sell? I thought about building my own, but it would be easier to find a stock one.
Fastbug I am installing a 292 yblock in place of a stock 6cyl.in my 54 F250. I read a post by bigwin on this forum about 10 days ago about removing that rivitted mount and installing a different crossmember for the V8.I am looking for more information about about this swap, and possibly a source for the parts. I may be able to help you with that front mount as soon as I figure out what I need. RED

So that is what that thing is ........ The P.O. put the body on a new aftermarket replacement frame and then added a 302..... so I have been wondering what that piece of metal riveted to the front cross member was.....
NumberDummy I have a 292 truck timing cover and anglebracket but I know the V8 is shorter than the original 6CYL. If I remove the plate rivited to the front crossmember, is there a different plate for the V8,and will I have to change the crossmember. I have the means and resources to build a new crossmember if that is an easy solution.
thanks RED
All the front radiator crossmembers are the same. The V8 motors had a extra crossmember mounted directly behind the radiator crossmember. The strait 6 motors had a bracket riveted to the backside of the radiator crossmember. I think there is about a 4" differance between V8 and L6 front motor mount locations.
