Where is this thing and whats it look like? is it mounted on the fenderliner or on the firewall? Is it hidden? Its not inside the fender or anything is it?
Tim
Drivers side wheel well liner, gotta drop it. PITA!. Once you get it dropped look up inside the fender, right behind the F series badge and you will see it.
Man that was a PITA. I mean was it really necessary to mount it back there? C'mon.
Tim
You don't want that thing exposed to anything, but yes, I can think of several 'easily available' places to put it. Should've booted it next to the PCM on the firewall.
I think they (Ford) thought that would be an ideal location away from the elements. Like the PCM, inside the truck! I've seen guys running without the fender liner, not so smart, IMO.
I havent done it but it increaes electrical input to each injector thus giving each injector a faster reaction time. Something about replacing a diode in the IDM that requires soldering. When I was researching the IDM i kept seeing this mod over at the D-stop and goes by the name of "the joe servo" mod?? I think. I havent seen any one doing it over here. Do some research. Something lie ten horses can be brought out and mostly good feedback from those doing it.
Tim, Check this out. I have th RTV and i have the diodes. If you want ONE i can ship one out. I have a pack of 5 and i would like to keep three here. I got the diodes from DigiKey.
Well, i was bored tonight and did some reading. According to Servo, the one who invented this mod, said that on the 01 and newer IDMs the procedure that is listed on that site will fry the IDM. I have the link to the other forum if anyone is interested PM me.

I've read the Joeservo write up on Diesel Stop also, and he says that jacking the voltage up from 110V to 140V decreases the turn on time from 560uS to 440uS. I see how this gives more hp with an OEM PCM, but why can't a chip provide the same benefit without the IDM mod? Seems like a chip can advance timing and increase PW to get a similar effect.
I dont really know, i have it done on my idm, but it was done before i got the truck so i do not know much about it, i was just posting that before people blow up IDMs.

I'm not familiar with the circuit itself, but it doesn't sound right. You can't jack up voltage by a diode. A diode is just a check valve in an electical system, depending on the diode type. I will do some reading and find out what this guys is claiming. Something doesn't sound right.
