EGR Valve

I was told by someone when I rebuilt my motor to take the EGR apart and use the top half with the electrical connection and the actuator. He said leave this connected to the harness to fool the computer. My question is does anyone have any expirence with this? Do I need to leave it connected? I have pluged all the holes where the EGR went.

Hi Rick. The purpose of keeping the EGR EVP sensor connected (if you have one), is to keep the check engine light off. If you don't have this sensor on the EGR valve, and you have already plugged up the vacuum hose to it, then it is effectively disabled.
