The light only comes on when there is a problem. You can get the codes pulled at Autozone.

Why would they need a deposit to scan the dtc? They offer the service for free.

I believe CA doesn't allow parts store employees to pull codes, now that I think of it.

You need to get the codes pulled somehow.

Your right Rockledge, Calif has a law that say if the store pulls the codes, they have to charge.

BUT their charge is refundable, in this case, so a redit card would do.

If he doesn't have that option, then buying a code reader would likely be less costly, or perhaps not more so, than going to the Dealer.

Or maybe there is a FTE Chapter close by, with a member that has a scan tool or code reader, that could do it at no cost.

Just a couple more thoughts for pondering.

Welcome to FTE Arnold.

I read the 121 code as Throttle Position Senor (TPS) voltage does not agree with Mass Air Flow (MAF) sensor.

172 = System adaptive fuel too rich (bank 1)

Your TPS is on the throttle body. The MAF sensor is in the air tube, just past the air filter.

You should begin a new thread, by going to the front page of this forum & clicking on "start new thread/discussion" so you can get answers just for your problem/s.

BTW, be sure to check the "Technical Information" thread, located atop this forum's front page, it's loaded with all kinds of helpful repair info, as well as links to trouble code number meanings.
