Daily driver here. Currently in a 02' F250 7.3L Lariat 4x4 Crew. I love to drive my truck around every day, it has a 80hp Tipton computer in it and gets roughly 17 MPG. I have put about 20k miles on it a year and have no regrets about cost. I tow a 17k lb. 5er a couple times a year so I will be upgrading to a 06' or 07' F350 DRW really soon. I can't wait to drive that new beast every day

A DRW as a DD would be badass.

I originally bought my 2006 Crew Cab to replace a '96 Reg Cabdue to my family. I went diesel for the longevity and power to tow. Well, I had a buddy ask me to help him by towing his drag car to the strip because his truck was down. We got to the strip and there were two other diesels playing during the test n tune. My buddy talked me into trying it for 'fun'. Well, $17K later, I'm one of the fastest trucks there AND I still tow my buddies 15K trailer there and back after we both play!!

Sadly, I have two explorer windows open because I just HAVE to find a new turbo to replace the stock VGT. She's still not the fastest, but she's getting there. ROFLMAO!! Gotta love to smokem'!!

Daily driver, less than 4 miles to work. About 26,000 miles per year.

Have travel trailer and boat so is used for some occasional towing.

I do keep the cobwebs blown out.

Just remember if you are towing hard (or even really running hard) and pull into a rest area, restaurant, etc. to let it idle a few minutes to cool down the exhaust temperature before shutting it off so the turbo can't coke the oil. Better yet, if you install an EGT gauge you can let it get down to normal. I was always last in one of our favorite restaurants at the top of a grade when returning home from the lake as I was waiting on the temperature to come down.

I use my X as a sometimes daily driver. I say sometimes since on occasion it will sit in the garage for a couple of days. I work from home.

It tows my Bass boat about 12 miles to Lake Austin 3-5 times a week. But at under 1900lbs....What boat!

I plan on having it forever, if I can.

I love it when it is raining and she is all waxed up in the garage.... So I take the wifes car if I have to go somewhere

Small parking lots are no problem. 4x4 on top of the two smallest cars and park there LOL! Why do people need $90k (and up) cars, $2.5M houses, $7.50 cups of coffee, $700.00 jackets, etc... Because we can, so who's business is it if we enjoy some of Gods Providence and Grace! Who's asking? Maybe they are just envious or meddling... Sounds like an possibility. God will bless them too--Ask for it

Oz,

Yea, we are still a little simple here in Texas. Not near as advanced as you Cali boys. But, I did modify my house to fit the truck.. that was cool. Sorry little off topic.

Very good looking garage decor. I like what you've done with the place! I see why it's better to take the wife's ride to the stop-n-shop on a rainy day... By the way, Texas simple is better than Cali confusion. If not for the grace of God, Ya' know?

Hey Great Post as I always wondered about using a diesel as a daily driver.. However I think it would be cool if someone started a poll for Miles driven to work one way. Id do it, but the last time I tried making a poll I severely screwed it up....
I think theres alot of difference when someone says daily driver and one guy drives 40 miles to work and someone else only drives maybe 4 miles to work.
